I’ve recently posted (bingo! bingo!) how I get severe hunger pains during the day that I have to balance with taking Sinemet, as you need to have an empty stomach for the pills.
The situation continues unabated. I take my pills, and about an hour later I feel famished, craving protein. I wolf down protein bars, cheese sticks, peanut butter sandwiches, handfuls of almonds, and small cartons of milk. Then I feel OK again.
I am also waking up in the middle of the night now, equally starving. I get out of bed and eat a bowl of granola, which puts me back to sleep.
Which brings me to the issue of buttons. Many Parkies have trouble with buttons – buttoning shirts, sweaters, jackets, etc. (Click here for my previous reporting on buttons and Parkinson’s.) I’m still fine with shirt buttons, but here’s the trouble I’m having now: I can’t button my pants. Why? I’ve been eating so much my waist size has expanded by a few inches. It’s so aggravating – and embarrassing!
I should add that for all of December and the first half of January, I didn’t work out at the gym. I had a nasty cold that developed into bronchitis.
So here I am: out of shape, hungry as ever, and unable to button my pants.
What’s next?
