What meds am I on now? Here’s the low down.
Morning, when I wake up:
- Carbidopa/Levodopa 25-100: 2 tabs
- Clonazepam 1 mg: 1 tab
- Clonazepam 0.5 mg: 1 tab
- Metoprolol 25 mg: 1 tab
During the day:
- Carbidopa/Levodopa 25-100: 2 tabs on an empty stomach, every 3 hours
- Clonazepam 0.5 mg: 1 tab mid-day
Before going to bed:
- Nortriptyline 25 mg: 3 capsules
- Clonazepam 1 mg: 1 tab
- Clonazepam 0.5 mg: 1 tab
- Sertraline 100 mg: 1 tab
- Simvastatin 20 mg: 1 tab
- Mirtazapine 7.5 mg: 3 tabs
And the world goes ‘round….
That’s a LOT to keep track of!! Having an empty stomach every 3 hours would take some planning for me 🙂
Yes – it requires constant monitoring of when I eat and when I take Sinemet (Carbidopa/Levodopa). Interesting fact: “sinemet” is Latin for “sin + emit” which means “without vomiting.”
Always great to see you on site, Beverly.
Just got diagnosed last week. I feel like my world has turned upside down. I wanted to know why I was feeling weaker on one side of my body, but when I found out I was devastated. I’m future tripping, which can only be harmful in the long run.
Dale – if you’re recently diagnosed you probably have years ahead of you of a mostly normal life. I was diagnosed in 2012 and for the longest time Parkinson’s was merely a minor hassle. The best advice I can give you is to start exercising regularly. I don’t know how old you are or what shape you’re in, but if you search around on my blog you’ll find lots of information about exercise options and about people staying in great shape physically and mentally as a result. In the “Categories” drop down menu on the right of my screen, select “Physical Exercise,” “Non-Pharmacological Fixes,” and “Parkinson’s Pantheon” to get started. Also search for the articles with the category “Bruce Ballard” to get an idea of how I’ve been living my life – through competitive swimming, ping-pong, writing poetry, hiking….I hope this helps you cheer up. Please stay in touch!
