“Gotta Keep Moving”



This weekend marks the first ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) – sanctioned Parkinson’s World Table Tennis Championship, with about 60 ping pong athletes converging on Pleasantville, New York, from over a dozen countries.

Margie Alley is a young-onset Parkie who’s terrific at ping pong as well as a host of other sports. “You can have this disease and be really normal,” she says, “But you need to be proactive.” As she and many others have noted, exercise, especially playing more than one sport or doing a variety of workout routines, can delay the progression of PD.

Margie just completed a terrific film about her life – how she found out she had PD, how she came out to co-workers, and how she leads an active, social, happy existence.
