In celebration of all things sunny, and to promote an enriched environment, Parking Suns now features every Sunday a different YouTube music clip about the sun!
This week’s entry is bittersweet. It features Aretha Franklin playing piano and singing “If Ever I Would Leave You.” Yes, there’s a line about the sun, but it ends up being a sad song, as Aretha died recently; she’s left us.
If ever I would leave you
It wouldn’t be in summer.
Seeing you in summer
I never would go.
Your hair streaked with sunlight,
Your lips red as flame,
Your face with a lustre
That puts gold to shame!
Goodbye, Aretha! You were like a smiling sun in so many people’s lives, for so many years. Decades, really.
