In celebration of all things sunny, and to promote an enriched environment, Parking Suns now features every Sunday a different YouTube music clip about the sun!
For this week’s entry, a young Sarah Vaughan sings a paradoxically upbeat version of “September in the Rain.” I’ll paste the lyrics below; they include the line “The sun went out just like a dying ember.”
To follow up, I’ve added a second video of Sarah singing “Misty.” Often, after it rains, the weather gets misty before the sun comes back out. And that’s not always a bad thing, as you’ll see (and hear) when Sarah knocks the song into the stratosphere.
The leaves of brown came tumblin’ down, remember
In September in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying ember
That September in the rainTo every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play a sweet refrain
Though spring is here, to me it’s still September
That September in the rain
