In celebration of all things sunny, Parking Suns now features every Sunday a different YouTube music clip about the sun!
This week’s entry: In recognition of the heat dome much of the continental USA has been suffering under (New York was particularly brutal), here is the Lovin’ Spoonful singing “Summer in the City.”
While the song doesn’t name the sun per se, its presence is definitely implied:
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the cityAll around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
Also, the throwback video matches well this week’s Throwback Thursdays Art (a photo of Coney Island from 1940), as well as my open water swim race at Coney Island yesterday.

Enjoy your week! Hope it’s cool….
Hot Flash!
Starting next Sunday, my sister, Harriet Davis, will take over the control of Sunny Sundays music vids. She sent me a list of great YouTube songs about the sun. I’ll line them up for the rest of the summer and into fall!
Thank you, Harriet!
Fun song and video! No hope of “cool” here in Florida until maybe October!
