Throwback Thursdays Art

Every Thursday, as part of my personal “enriched environment” initiative, I post a piece of art, usually from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which recently released online some 400,000 high-resolution images of its collection.  All artwork will show a sun (or sunlight) somewhere.

I won’t name the piece or the artist, but instead invite you to study the art and post a comment addressing one or more of these questions:

  • What is going on in this picture?
  • What do you see in the picture?
  • What does it make you think of?
  • What observations can you make?

  1. On my screen her face looks a little blue. I also think it is odd to skate while your hands are tied up in a muffler. She could fall and crack an elbow.

  2. oH YEAH, RIGHT ! STILL SKATING THIS LATE AFTER SPRING hAAS ALREADY ARRIVED !!! ? ITS CALLED ” LIVING IN DANGER ” ??!!!!

LOOK AT HOW GREEN THE GRASS already IS !!!!

  3. Yeah, she’s kinda blue on my tube, too. I’m pretty much done with winter, frankly.
Six months ago skating would have thrilled me. Now I want heat.

  4. The Metropolitan Museum really has this? It seems Plain Jane.

I like the shadow-reflection of the words “Read the Sun” on the ice. That is a nice touch.

The grass does look green,, wishful thinking I suppose.

  5. She’s skating on thin ice at this time of the year. Especially with the words “Read t he Sun” sitting on the ice and warming it up. She could crash through at any moment.

The whole thing is a metaphor for having Parkinson’s.
