Parky and I attended the Team Fox MVP Awards Dinner (#teamfoxmvp) last night at Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan. We were invited because of the money I raised for the Michael J Fox Foundation last September at the Zoot Triathlon in Rye, New York.
Never been to Gotham Hall? Like to party?
Well, come with us!
Here we are on the commuter train heading into Manhattan. The invite said to dress “foxy with a touch of orange.” My husband and I wore black suits with identical orange ties. Parky wore his orange ninja glasses.
We stopped for a quick photo op in the main room of Grand Central Station!
Here’s the outside of Gotham Hall. Note the columns.
Here we are at the entrance tent! Fancy!
Here’s the main room where we’ll all have dinner. Fancier! But where are the people?
On the second floor balcony, drinking cocktails! Again, note the columns! I could post a column on just these columns!
The cocktail party was a dimly-lit whirlwind of frenetic activity and chatter!
But Parky brought it to a sharp focus when he posed on the bar!
Good thing he had room on the bar for that photo, because when everyone moseyed downstairs for dinner, there wasn’t a square inch of empty space on the tables! Note the columns breadsticks!
Everyone at our table loved Parky!
There were many powerful speakers. The most powerful was Michael J. Fox himself! (Thanks to our dining companion, Nancy, for this shot! … and to my husband, Yong Ih, for some of the other pics!)
After Michael sat down, he was mobbed with well-wishers. We got as close as we could for this photobomb! (To see Michael, look directly above Parky’s left ear. First you’ll see a man with a gleaming pate – think “parking sun” – and right above that is Michael’s face in profile.)
Here’s a funny shot! At the end of the evening, Michael joined the top fundraisers onstage. Question: Why are all the people behind him looking up? What on earth could they be staring at on the screen overhead?
OMG! Yes!
Remember, you can buy your own Parky, the official World Parkinson Congress mascot, here! All profits go to the WPC Travel Grants Program, which helps a junior researcher or person with Parkinson’s disease to attend the World Parkinson Congress 2016 in Portland, Oregon!
Wonderful, Bruce! Just wonderful! (Although now I’m feeling a little peckish, lol)
I loooove the Ninja glasses for Parky. You New Yorkers are so suave and stylish…you know, like Donald Trump….:-)
Good work on the fund raising!
On the one hand, Donald Trump, with his orange face, would have fit in with the night’s color scheme.
On the other hand, everyone at the Team Fox event was/is a winner, which Donald Trump was not, is not, will never be.
What a great summary of that beautiful night! So enjoyed meeting you, Yong and Parky!!
Congratulations to your team!! What an outstanding achievement! Love the photo by the clock at Grand Central Station 🙂
All around awesome. You’ve raised the “Parky bar” with this one. Curious to see where he goes next!
