I live in one of the river towns along the east bank of the Hudson River. When the sun sets on the other side of the Hudson, the light bounces off objects on our side in striking (to my mind) ways.
For example:
I love the central post in this pic. Ditto whatever that horizontal rectangle is in the bottom left corner.
This is basically a black and white photo even though I took it with my iPhone.
Blinds. And not blinds.
The Sing Sing Kill. (“Kill” is Dutch for “stream.” You see the word a lot around New York and the Hudson Valley.)
Down by the docks. Parking suns on parked cars.
Down by the docks, right next to the cars in the previous picture. I love the glowing logs.
Light bouncing off the mast’s cross bar (boom?).
This fishing shack is doubly lit: directly from the sun, and again from light bouncing off the water. It’s almost too much!
