Every Thursday, as part of my personal “enriched environment” initiative, I post a piece of art, usually from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which recently released online some 400,000 high-resolution images of its collection. All artwork will show a sun (or sunlight) somewhere.
I won’t name the piece or the artist, but instead invite you to study the art and post a comment addressing one or more of these questions:
- What is going on in this picture?
- What do you see in the picture?
- What does it make you think of?
- What observations can you make?

Get it. Moon = reflected sunlight, which in turn is refflected by the ice on the stream.. From blazing hot to freezing cold.
Good choice for the freezing weather and snow we’re having. It looks peaceful but the snow chills me.
I see that there are many clouds floating in the sky, but the artist chose not to have any directly in front of the moon , in fact the moon Is neatly placed in an open spot encircled by three clouds that are approaching it but not quite touching it. The picture is a bit unreal as I can’t imagine a blue sky like that , even with a full moon .
Neither can I accept that stars are shining through a sky so blue . !!
looks like somebody hacked the left side with a box cutter !!!
Yes, it’s bitter cold in this picture. And outside my door! We have temperatures below zero degrees! Chills when I look at this art! Wow!
Blue, white and touches of black – really “cool” picture!!
