Parky’s Pilgrimage to L.L. Bean!

While visiting some relatives in Maine, Parky (official mascot of the World Parkinson Congress) and I took a side trip to L.L. Bean’s flagship store in Freeport!

01

Here we are outside the ginormous L.L. Bean store!  Who actually orders boots this size?  Good question!  We always knew L.L. Bean’s fan base was huge…!

02

Before venturing inside, we stoked up on food and beverage at the Azure Café, a nearby Italian restaurant.  For beverages, I ordered an Italian Pinot Grigio, but Parky went with their signature drink, a wild Maine blueberry margarita!

03

Which paired nicely with linguini and white clam sauce!  Yum!

04

Inside L.L. Bean, we went straight to the kids’ section to see what the younger generation is up to!  Hanging out with kids in a toy store tops our list of things we like to do.  Kids are so intelligent, so insightful, so fun and amazing.  But surprisingly, on the afternoon of December 24, Christmas Eve, the store was empty!  No kids, and almost no adult customers!  Whaaaah!

So (sniff…sniff!) Parky put on his best face and posed beside some of L.L. Bean’s famous rain boots!

05

Then he checked out a real canoe!  Wheeeeeee!

06

As there were no humans in the kids’ department, we decided to hook up with other quadrupeds!  For example, an adorable sock monkey!

07

OMG!  Yetis really exist!

08

While Parky tried out a bed for puppies, some other animals (including, look for it, a real raccoon!) started to come by to talk, but they instead stopped to answer a young woman’s question about where the snow shoes were!

09

Oh, well!  In one corner of the kids’ section there was a blackboard set at Parky’s height, where you could write and draw whatever!  Parky left this message to everyone coming to the World Parkinson Congress next September!  See you there!

And Happy Holidays!

Meanwhile, you can buy your own Parky here!  All profits go to the WPC Travel Grants Program to enable a junior researcher or person with Parkinson’s disease to attend the World Parkinson Congress 2016 in Portland!
