Chocolate and Parkinson’s. Sign Me Up!

Many Internet news outlets are posting articles about chocolate and PD, with such tempting titles as “Could Chocolate Help to Ease Parkinson’s Disease?

I click an article, start salivating, start searching for Ashford and Simpson’s “Found a Cure!” on my iPod, only to find out that the experiments involving chocolate haven’t been done with humans yet, only rodents.  The human trials are just getting underway.  In Dresden, Germany.

My response:  Rats!

Here’s a description of the upcoming experiment.  It seems simplistic, but gosh…dark chocolate every day!  Maybe I should move to Dresden.

The 30 volunteers will be given either 50g of white chocolate – which contains no cocoa – or dark chocolate – which is 85 per cent cocoa.

After taking the supplements twice daily for a week, subjects will then be given the other type of chocolate the week after.

Once the two weeks are up, the differences in their symptoms will be compared.

Oh wait…the daily dark chocolate portion lasts only one week?

Never mind.

Forget it.
