Here’s a selfie with me, Kari and Nicole (two of New York’s Nicest) at a bar packed with athletes on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, shortly after we ran a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) race to raise money for Parkinson’s research.
Let’s backtrack to fill in the details.
- What? FoxTrot 5K for Parkinson’s Research — presented by Team Fox.
- When? 7:00 this evening (Aug 13).
- Where? Riverside Park on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. We started near 103rd Street, ran north to 113th Street, then south to 96th Street, then back up to 113th Street, then south again to 103rd. Makes me dizzy just to write it!
- Why? To raise funds for Parkinson’s research. The event pulled in about $12,500. All of it will go directly to research.
- Who? Kari and Nicole (two of New York’s Nicest), me, and about 250 other entrants. Plus the Team Fox race organizers, all of whom were friendly, relaxed, upbeat and professional.
- How? How did I do? I finished in the middle of the pack. I haven’t run competitively since the years I competed in triathlons in Japan (1994-1997).
- How? How was the after party? Terrific. Everyone got a big glass of delicious dark beer, then chatted like mad. That’s where I met Kari and Nicole.
- How? How was the weather? Glorious. Sunshine, cool temps, blue skies.
- How? How come there aren’t more pictures? My bad! My editor is going to kill me!
Kari and Nicole: If you read this, would you please add some comments about the event below? Thanks!
