Here’s a video that shows what makes the Bronx Charter School for Better Learning unique:
What an exciting environment!! How are students selected?
We have about 500 kids in pre-K through 5th Grade. They are selected randomly by lottery, unless they already have a sibling in the school, in which case they automatically get in. Any child in New York can apply, but we are required to put children from the local school district at the top of the list.
Each year we receive about 2,400 applications for about 100 openings. Typically, once a child gets into our school, he/she stays there and doesn’t leave.
There is such a demand for seats at our school that the state approved us to open a 2nd campus this September.
