Every Thursday, as part of my personal “enriched environment” initiative, I post a piece of art, usually from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which recently released online some 400,000 high-resolution images of its collection. I won’t name the piece or the artist, but instead invite you to study the image and write a comment about what you see or what it makes you think of. All images will have a sun (or sunlight) in them somewhere.
So study the picture, and leave your reflections below!
The couple in the lower right are having a picnic, and they drank too much wine, stripped naked and are hallucinating.
Who drives the golden chariot across the sky? Apollo? Who’s the old man on the far left? What’s he holding? What’s the writing on the square rock in the lower right corner? Who is the couple? Is that Cupid hovering over the female?

I’d like to print out this black and white drawing on 11 x 17 paper and give it with coloring pencils to my son and daughter (ages 5 and 7) to color.
Also the young man looks like he has double knee caps on his left leg.
Silly comments this week. The old man on the left is holding a trombone.
